cbz-convert
Converts the internal pages of a Comic Book .cbz file to be .avif
Usage: cbz-convert path/to/cbz
A common file format for media with lots of visual images is the Comic Book Archive Zip format, .cbz. These files are commonly used for media such as comic books, magazines, manga, etc., but they are simply a collection of images zipped together with the file extension changed. It's widely supported, and due to its nature, very easy for anyone to manually create or edit themselves. The images inside of a .cbz are often the most common image formats, such as .jpg or .png. With hundreds of them being stored together, .cbz files can easily get into the hundreds of megabytes, with material getting into the gigabyte range not uncommon. This script attempts to assist with this by reformatting all the stored images into the .avif format, a relatively new -- but widely supported -- image format with much better image compression. The script will also resize larger pages down to fit 1500x1500 (whichever side is larger), as many files have outrageously large images, larger than any monitor anyone is using today.
